"THIS IS THE BUS FOR US!"  VBS is here! Vacation Bible School is always a great time to bring family, friends and neighbors to hear stories from the Bible and learn a little from God's Word. Our theme this year is "This is the Bus for Us!" We will be looking at the life of Joseph on this journey. On the last day of VBS we always have a great time of fellowship and activities with all the families and visitors to Summit. Invite your families and friends and plan now on being at VBS each night from 7:00 to 8:30!

Welcome to the website of the Summit Church of Christ -- we are glad you are visiting with us!  We are a congregation that places focus on service and praise to our Lord and Savior.  Our building is located in Cold Spring, Kentucky and is easily accessible by those in much of the Tri-State area of Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana, and Northern Kentucky.

Please take some time to take a look around the site and learn about our congregation.  We have provided directions, info about our Bible School program, some of the ministries supported or performed, our leadership, class notes, audio sermons, a daily devotional thought, Bible reading schedule, and much much more!  Also, we appreciate any feedback or questions you might have; just click on the Contacts link above to provide this to us.

Enjoy your visit!

2 Corinthians 3:4-5 “Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.” (NIV)

This is a great devotional text because it gives a clear meaning to two of life’s key ingredients for success: confidence and competence. What is pretty powerful as a thought here is that both confidence and competence come from God. A person’s confidence is critical to their ability to cope with stressful conditions or difficult times. Our competence enables us to complete tasks under extraordinary circumstances and this all comes from God. Now when your confidence comes from God and when your competence comes from God and your faith tells you that God is in control one thing that we don’t have to dwell on is fear of failure. When fear of failure is eliminated from our lexicon we can be transformed into the Lord’s confident and competent servants. LORD MAY I STAY CLOSE TO YOU SO THAT I MAY BECOME YOUR CONFIDENT AND COMPETENT SERVANT. ~ by Mike White

THE FAMILY OF KENNA KNIGHT  Our condolences and sorrows go to Kenna Knight and her family on the loss of her brother Dale Kirsch, who passed away suddenly last Saturday. The funeral is today at the Grassy Creek Christian Church in DeMossville at 10:30 am. We love you Kenna and we all pray for comfort for you and your family.

A NEW BROTHER IN CHRIST  We rejoice along with the angels in heaven for the salvation of Clay Knight and his obedience to the Lord by putting Him on in baptism Sunday night. Clay is the son of Tim and Kenna Knight. Please make it a point to congratulate and encourage Clay as he begins his walk with his Lord. There will be a new Bible in the foyer for everyone to sign a note of encouragement. Clay, welcome to the family of God!

2010 SUMMIT REVIVAL  Mark your calendars now for Sunday through Wednesday, September 19 - 22, 2010. Brother Todd Parsley will be our featured speaker again this year. Todd is the pulpit minister of the 10th & Vine congregation in Ironton, Ohio and has been very active at Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp for almost two decades. He is a bold proclaimer of the gospel and a wonderful speaker. As we seek revival in our individual lives, in our congregation, and in our families and friends, be praying for open hearts and a desire to serve God. Please plan to be here each day to hear the good news of the gospel and be encouraged to be active in the kingdom of God!

NEW CONGREGATION IN OWENTON  The Lord has blessed the Dry Ridge work in Grant County. The Lehman Avenue church in Bowling Green has now purchased property to start a new congregation in Owenton, KY. The first order of business is to get the preacher's house completely remodeled. The preacher to be supported for the work can then move in and begin the work much like Jerry Carmichael has done in Grant County. The house is at 140 Old Monterey Road in Owenton, Ky. A workday has been set for the work on Saturday, August 14 starting at 9 am. All the old stuff will come out of the house so that the contractors can get busy putting in the new. Jerry would love for members of Summit to join them in the work.

VISITOR FLOWERS  It’s that time again to make visitor flowers. The kits are in the helping hands baskets on the ladies table in the foyer. Please grab one and follow directions as indicated on the package. Over the next couple of weeks we will assemble the 150 needed for the year. Thanks for your help!

YOU CAN HELP FORT HILL CHRISTIAN YOUTH CAMP!
INVESTING IN OUR YOUTH
Did you know that a major study by one of the brotherhood colleges showed that christian camping was the second most effective tool in helping youth remain faithful to the Lord? Only parents surpassed christian camping in helping youth remain faithful. The recent economic downturn has strained many parents' ability to send their children to camp. Here at Summit we want to make sure ALL of our youth have the opportunity to attend camp. Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp will accept any child that cannot pay for tuition as long as scholarship money is available. The camp's Board of Trustees depend on generous individuals to sponsor a camper or part of the camper fee. If you are interested in helping Summit's youth go to camp in 2010, please see one of the elders or give your funds with a designation of "Fort Hill Scholarship". You can also send scholarship funds to Fort Hill's treasurer: Brett Triplett, 2725 Bridlewood Street Circleville, OH 43113.

VOLUNTEER FOR A WEEK OF CAMP
Counselors, Bible class teachers, cooks and kitchen staff, nurses, maintenance, night-watch security, and others are always needed to help during a week of camp. What better way to impact youth than to volunteer to help them in a spiritual environment like Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp! If interested in volunteering, please see Bruce or call any of the camp managers who are scheduled to lead a week of camp.

FORT HILL ENDOWMENT FUND
The Camp Trustees established an endowment a few years ago to help guarantee the stability and continuity of the camp. If you are interested in making a gift please see Bruce or contact William Phillis, Board President. Gifts are tax deductible and are a great way to help Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp. Many brothers and sisters in Christ include Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp in their wills and estate planning.

KROGER & MEIJER CARDS
One way to help Fort Hill is to use Kroger and Meijer gift cards. Once you obtain a gift card for Kroger or Meijer, deposit funds onto it and use it like a debit card. Kroger and Meijer will then donate a small percentage of your purchase to Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp. Make it a habit to put funds on the card when you enter the store and then use it for purchases to help the Camp. It's just that easy! For a gift card please contact Brett Triplett at 740.477.7263 or at triplett10@msn.com.

FORT HILL MEMORIAL BRICKS
A great way to memorialize a loved one is to buy a personalized Fort Hill memorial brick with a name or message. For only $100 you can add the names of loved ones to the Fort Hill memorial paths that are being developed. Many people have already purchased bricks to honor loved ones and have helped contribute to Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp. Please see the back of a recent newsletter or see Bruce for more details.

Most of all, the board of trustees covets the prayers of the saints in helping us reach youth with the Word of God and encouraging them to attend camp. Visit Fort Hill's Facebook page often for up to date information and upcoming activities! You can also visit the Camp's web site by clicking on the following link.  Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp

FORT HILL ENGRAVED BRICKS  Want to make a lasting impression at Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp? Why not consider an engraved brick with a personalized message? What a beautiful way to remember someone and help Fort Hill at the same time! A memorial walkway is being developed around the flag pole with a lasting memorial as people remember and honor loved ones. The cost is only $100 for a 4"x8" brick. Print the attached form to mail or see Bruce.  Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp engraved brick form
