Ministry Leaders:  Harold and Sue Painter

“But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine, that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things – that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”  Titus 2:1-5

Seniors have the responsibility to make sure that the church is perpetuated.  Paul was very specific in this admonition to Titus.  The Summit Seniors’ Program was begun in 1996 to make sure that these instructions were carried out.  In addition, the senior’s Program has the purpose of drawing the seniors together.   Harold and Sue Painter were appointed as leaders.

The Senior group is presently made up of those who have celebrated 60 or more birthdays but, certainly, there is no intent to limit membership to any group; everyone is cordially invited to participate.

The Seniors attempt to have some kind of activity at least once each month.  The programs during the past year have been monthly dinners with some type of program, a 3rd Wednesday breakfast cooked by the men, an area wide luncheon for seniors in other congregations, and attendance at other area wide senior activities.

The goals for the Seniors’ Program for 2006 are to:

1.  Provide some social activity for the seniors on a regular monthly basis.

            2.  Make arrangements for communion for the shut-ins when desired and
                 necessary.

            3.  Provide or arrange for help with physical needs when appropriate.

            4.  Provide contacts for personal work studies.
