Acts 6:1-2
- “Now in those days, when the number of the disciples
was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the
Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.
Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said. ‘It is not
desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables."
The work of any
organization, especially the church, requires many administrative details.
Just as the apostles were faced with a management problem, elders face the
same challenge. Therefore, the area of administration is very broad and
very important in an efficient and effective congregation. The works for
this area are:
Advertising
1. Create awareness of the Summit congregation in Campbell
County through paid advertising and/or public relations announcements in the
newspapers.
2. Increase attendance through advertising for VBS, Youth rallies, and
Gospel meetings.
Communications
1. Provide an
avenue of relaying announcements and information concerning the congregation
to limit announcements in the worship services.
2. Ensure that an updated prayer list is provided on a weekly basis.
3. Maintain a current directory of members (includes periodical
updates).
4. Be sure that each visitor receives a letter of welcome.
5. Maintain a current, up-to-date phone.
Office
1. Perform an
inventory of existing file system.
2. Revise filing system.
3. Erect a “lockbox” for facility keys.
4. Revise “in-box” system.
5. Add secretarial/office support staff at least part time to help
keep up with files, office work, phones, messages, and letters.
Library
Note: Please check on Library to the left to see an inventory of books
and materials available.
1. Add to
existing library collection as appropriate.
2. Generate interest in and use of the library resources by members of
the congregation. |
