My Bible Reading Schedule for May 18
II Chronicles Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4
Overview of Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4: II Chronicles describes the Israelite kingdom under Solomon and the kings of Judah after the nation divided between Israel on the north and Judah on the south. You have already read most of these accounts in Samuel or Kings. Solomon asks God for wisdom and knowledge to judge the people; God rewarded him not only with wisdom but also with riches, wealth, and honor. Solomon built a large military base with chariots and horsemen. Chapter 2 gives us the final preparations for construction of the temple; he contracted with Hiram, king of Tyre to provide materials and craftsmen to assist in this effort. Chapters 3 and 4 provide the details regarding the actual construction of the temple.
