My Bible Reading Schedule for March 23

Judges Chapters 9, 10

Overview of Chapters 9 and 10:  Abimelech, son of Jerubbaal (Gideon) went to his mother's family and asked them to let him be their ruler. This they agreed to do. Abimilech became angry and had all 70 of Gideon’s sons killed except Jothan, the youngest, who hid himself. Abimelech ruled over Israel three years. Then God sent an ”spirit of ill will” between Abimelech and the lords of Shechem; and the lords of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech. This was done because of Abimelech put to death the sons of Jerubbaal. Abimilech was then killed and the Israelites went home. After Abimelech, other rulers were appointed. The anger of the LORD again was kindled against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the Ammonites.     (Overview for this reading compliments of Gene Harlow)
