Overview of Chapters 18, 19, and 20: A tent tabernacle is set up at Shilo. Seven tribes remained who had not received
their inheritance. Three men from each remaining tribe was selected to walk
through the land and write a description of it and report to Joshua. Joshua
himself was given a special portion of land and he built a city and resided
there. Joshua was instructed to designate six cities of refuge. These were
designated as shelters for people who took someone’s life accidentally.
