My Bible Reading Schedule for April 9

II Samuel Chapters 4, 5, 6, 7

Overview of Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7:  In continuing struggles, Ishbosheth is murdered and David is anointed king over Israel as well as Judah. David then captured Jerusalem and called it the City of David. He then was attacked by the Philistines; again the Philistines lost. In Chapter 6 we read about the ark being brought to Jerusalem. After that, there was peace for a time. David shared with Nathan, the prophet, his desire to construct a building to house the ark. However, God came to Nathan and told him to tell David that he should not build such a structure. David offered a prayer to God expressing his thanks for the promises made to him.
