My Bible Reading Schedule for April 3

I Samuel Chapters 16, 17

Overview of Chapters 16 and 17:  On God's instruction, Samuel anoints David, a young shepherd from Bethlehem, to be king of Israel. Saul was unaware of David's anointment and continued to function as king. However, David was brought into Saul's presence because he played a harp; Saul needed music to relieve his distress. Saul liked David very much and made him one of his armor-bearers. In Chapter 17 we read about another battle with the Philistines. On this occasion, David confronted Goliath, a champion of the Philistines and killed him. Consequently, the Philistines fled from the Israelites.
