My Bible Reading Schedule for April 1

I Samuel Chapters 11, 12, 13

Overview of Chapters 11, 12, and 13:  The Ammonites were enemies of the Israelites. They were planning to attack Israel; however, under Saul's leadership, the Ammonites were defeated. This victory led to the people's acceptance of Saul as king. Samuel warned the people that, although they had a king, both they and the king would be punished if they did not follow the commands of God. In Chapter 13, we find that Saul disobeyed God's command and Samuel told him that his kingdom would not continue. Soon thereafter the Philistines planned an attack on the Israelites.
